I had a client who needed some artwork and thought I’d submit to the process, which is to say – don’t overthink it, just do it. So – I made him something for his empty wall space; something that would be appropriate for the house.
I grabbed two 4′ paintings I had been working on a few years ago and, while I liked them, I didn’t love them… and – in order for something to live in our house, we have to love it (I can picture my wife looking at me now with a raised eyebrow – OK-OK-OK – for it to be in our house at least one of us has to love it). I love lots of treasures – I’m the kid who still comes home from hikes and beach days with pockets full of bits and bobs to marvel at. There’s a pile of stones, sticks, corals and shells on my desk now. Anyway; I digress.
I had an idea of what I might do with the paintings, so I set them up on my custom easels (two chairs and some scrap wood leaning against bikes), I set up my camera to take a photo every 5 seconds or so, I put some music on and I went at it. Here’s a timelapse of the process and photo of the completed art hanging in the clients house just below; hope you enjoy!
