Corona Del Mar

Coastal Californian sunset and admiring crowd

The charming village of Corona del Mar (Spanish for “Crown of the Sea”) is located just south of Newport Beach, along the beautiful Southern California coastline.

Settled early in the 20th century, the area south of the intersection of Macarthur & PCH is alternately known as the “Village” or the “Flower Streets” after all of the florally themed street names that run perpendicular to the Pacific like “Dahlia”, “Narcissus”, and “Poppy”. Relatively newer developments planned & built out in the 1970’s are located to the north in the Irvine Terrace neighborhood, east in Harbor View Hills and just south in the Shorecliffs, Cameo Highlands & Cameo Shores neighborhoods.

CDM is known for its strong sense of community and walkability – most Corona del Marians would rather hit the pavement to get to their local destinations than drive there; there are gorgeous beaches, plenty of great eateries, bars, boutiques, and grocery stores all within a short trek on foot.

For someone who is looking for a first-class area with great schools, near the business hubs of Orange County all with a small-town feel, Corona del Mar is the place to be.

Corona Del Mar | Brief History

Corona del Mar, California: Cliffside Charm in Newport’s Seaside Village

Perched above the Pacific on land once part of Rancho San Joaquin, Corona del Mar began as a seaside village in the early 20th century. Early developers marketed it as a coastal getaway, and a ferry once brought prospective buyers to view blufftop lots. By mid-century, it had become a favorite for beachgoers and artists drawn to its ocean views.

Now a prestigious enclave within Newport Beach, Corona del Mar blends village charm with coastal elegance. Real estate ranges from quaint beach cottages to multimillion-dollar estates. The area’s walkable streets, upscale shops, and access to beaches like Big Corona and Inspiration Point help make CdM one of Orange County’s most desirable neighborhoods.
